What time do you wake up?
I am an early riser, I’m usually up by 4:30am.
Which thing first comes to your mind when you wake up?
I’m sure you hear parents say this all the time but as a mother, the first thing that comes to my mind as soon as I wake up are my children. I like to think that they are having a good night’s sleep even though it’s just been a few hours ago I checked on them.
What does your ideal day look like?
My ideal day …hmm . Work , chores, kids, some home improvements DIY stuff, phone calls, social media, more work. As I run a business that’s different from what I do in the day time, at the end of the day, I long to just put my feet up and catch up on US crime series .
What’s your favourite part of your daily routine?
Favourite part of my daily routine is coming home to a cosy, comfy bed with lots of pillows…haha. Believe it or not the moment I’m in bed I switch off totally and that means,no tv, no phones, no files, just relaxation. It helps to prepare me mentally for the next day.
Who influenced you to write about fashion?
Not to sound proud but I have to say my biggest influence was myself. I have a curious mind that wanders a lot, constantly trying to create something out of nothing. And where that wasn’t possible I would write down my creative ideas to come back later to make something out of it and that was how I started writing about style and fashion .
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for almost 6 years
What are your three priorities in life?
My 3 priorities in life , My health (spiritual, physical and mental), My family and My work
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
The best compliment I have ever received was one from a stranger on the bus, It had nothing to do with what I was wearing. I was complimented for being a mom. Apparently the bus driver knew my kids from their trip to and from school and couldn’t get over how well mannered they were.
Where you would like to go for the next vacations?
My next vacation would be Miami.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I am hoping that in 5 years time I am able to return home and impact the lives of the children who are desperately in need of food, good health and education back home.
Do you think that the clothes we wear reflect what is inside us?
Yes, in most cases I think it does. Personally I wear what is practical and that means putting the weather into consideration and the occasion as well
What do you think about second hand clothes?
12 . Second hand clothes will forever exist and I think it is a branch of the economy that people do not pay much attention to because of the stigma that the society has placed on it. Meanwhile, it is an affordable and a safe way to save the planet vis a vis recycling.
If you could have a gift card to any store, where would you want it to be?
Just give me a gift card to IKEA and i”m good …lol. I can go in there, pick a few items and create magical things that brings the home together .
Who is your fashion role model?
I really can’t say I have a fashion role model this is because fashion evolves and sometimes we humans can get stuck in it and lose our sense of creativity. But if I had to choose it would be Angelina Jolie, she has an effortlessly sultry and timeless elegance to the way she dresses.
What traditional clothes do people from your country wear?
They are so many and that’s what I like about the African traditional wears, the ability to go from Iro and buba (asoke) to Ankara prints and the Igbo George, which is also a type of garment worn across the chest.
What is your most valuable piece of jewellery?
That would be my mother’s gold bangles. It is more like a family heirloom because it was given to her by her mother and she passed it on to me. Unfortunately it doesn’t fit my wrist any more so it will eventually be passed on to my daughter.
Would you like to be a fashion model?
No ,no ,no , no … been there ,done that in my twenties and now I think it’s over and done now , so if I did model clothes it would either be for charity or for my blog but not as a profession.
Who is your favourite fashion model?
My favourite fashion model is Naomi Campbell. I have a lot of respect for her and all she went through in her era when black models were not appreciated.
At what age did you start wearing makeup?
I was 19 when I used my first lip pencil, actually it was my mom’s lip pencil I borrowed because I was getting ready to go for a photo shoot.
At what age did you start wearing makeup?
Black pencil , be it a lip pencil or an eye pencil, as long as it is a black one then it’s all I need.
How important is an attractive product packaging?
Well ,they say dont judge a book by its cover, and I say judge a product by everything. So yes it is important that a product has to have an attractive package. Presentation is very important but more importantly the product should work.
What trend looks scary to you?
I think it’s the nudity trend, I wouldn’t say its scary but more like distasteful as it takes away the essence of fashion. Which is to be creative with materials and flaunt those creativity with one’s body.
What product would you gladly splurge on?
Neutrogena healthy skin range , such an underrated product but delivers fantastic results.
How do you celebrate your birthday?
To be honest I dont usually celebrate my birthday, I prefer to celebrate other people’s birthdays. But be sure that on my birthday I am thankful and appreciative for the gift of life.
