Miss Tourism Kwahu 2026

Miss Tourism Kwahu 2026

The launch of Miss Tourism Kwahu (MTK) has introduced a fresh and meaningful platform that combines beauty, culture, and tourism development in Ghana.

More than just a traditional pageant, MTK was created as a movement aimed at promoting Kwahu’s rich cultural heritage while empowering young women to become strong voices for tourism and community growth.

Organised by the Empowered Tradition and Culture Foundation Ghana (ETCFG), the initiative focuses on discovering and nurturing young women who can proudly represent Kwahu and Ghana both locally and internationally.

Through this platform, contestants are encouraged to serve as ambassadors of culture, leadership, and development while helping to showcase the hidden tourism potential within the Kwahu area.

At the heart of MTK is a vision to use culture as a tool for economic progress. By highlighting local festivals, traditions, historical sites, and tourist attractions, the project aims to position Kwahu as a stronger destination for both domestic and international tourism. It also creates opportunities for young women to build confidence, leadership skills, and entrepreneurial mindsets.

The idea was brought to life by the Empowered Tradition and Culture Foundation Ghana, a non-profit organisation committed to youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and sustainable tourism development. Through structured planning and community engagement, the foundation created MTK to support both tourism growth and social impact.

Strong leadership played a major role in the success of the maiden edition. Bright Owusu Asante and Carl Obeng Newman were instrumental in shaping the vision and ensuring its successful execution. Their commitment helped turn the concept into a well-organised and culturally significant event.

They were supported by a dedicated team, including Lawrence Tweneboah-Kodua, who managed event coordination, Dorothy Abena Acheampong, who supervised contestant preparation and welfare, and Henry Tetteh, who handled publicity and media relations. Their combined efforts contributed to a smooth and memorable first edition.

The grand finale took place at the Obomeng Social Center, a location chosen for its cultural importance and strong connection to the Kwahu community. The event attracted a lively audience, traditional leaders, and local supporters who came together to celebrate heritage and excellence.

Emerging as the winner of Miss Tourism Kwahu 2026 was Belinda Mireku, popularly known as Afua, from Aduamoa. Her confidence, intelligence, stage presence, and strong representation of culture made her stand out throughout the competition.

As part of her victory, she received a brand-new car, GHS 5,000, and additional souvenirs. The first and second runners-up were also rewarded with cash prizes, reflecting the organisers’ commitment to supporting the future ambitions of all contestants.

Despite financial and logistical challenges, the organisers successfully delivered a high-quality event with support from sponsors, partners, media houses, and Kwahu indigenes. However, they continue to seek stronger partnerships from institutions such as the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, corporate bodies, and private investors.

The impact of MTK is already visible. It has helped spotlight hidden tourist attractions, strengthened cultural pride, and created new opportunities for youth empowerment. It has also attracted attention from tourism stakeholders and investors, further boosting Kwahu’s growing reputation as one of Ghana’s promising tourism destinations.

Looking ahead, the next edition promises to be even bigger, with plans for community-based pageants, expanded contestant training, and a larger grand finale scheduled for Easter Saturday 2027 at Obomeng.

Miss Tourism Kwahu is proving that pageantry can go beyond entertainment. It stands as a powerful example of how culture, leadership, and tourism can work together to drive community development and inspire the next generation.
