Nana Yeboah Blends Highlife and Faith in Inspiring Gospel Journey

Nana Yeboah, born Bernard Kwame Yeboah in Dormaa Babianeha, carries a story shaped by heritage, faith, and resilience. Named after his grandfather, the Ghanaian artist’s journey reflects a deep connection to music, spirituality, and purpose.

Although originally from the Bono Region, Nana Yeboah grew up in Koforidua in Ghana’s Eastern Region under the influence of the legendary highlife musician Abirekyieba Kofi Sammy, who played a significant role in nurturing his talent. Music runs in his blood, as his father was also a live band performer, making creativity and rhythm a natural part of his upbringing.

His path into music began as a secular artist, even though his earliest experiences were rooted in the church choir. It was within that spiritual space that he recorded his first gospel track and developed a deeper connection with faith-based music. Despite his strong love for highlife, he continued to explore both worlds and even recorded a gospel project during his time in Australia.

A defining moment in his career came when he encountered the late highlife legend Dr. Paa Bobo. Impressed by Nana Yeboah’s musical skill, the veteran artist invited him to join his band. After hearing Nana Yeboah perform a gospel piece at a live event, Dr. Paa Bobo encouraged him to fully commit to gospel music. That moment marked a turning point, guiding him toward what would become his true calling.

Currently based in Germany, Nana Yeboah balances his music with his professional life while continuing to pursue his passion. He also runs his own recording studio, allowing him to produce and share inspirational music despite the challenges of living abroad. Raised in the Catholic faith, he believes God’s hand has been on his life since his early years.

A Message Rooted in Faith, Survival, and Grace

His latest song, Wonderful God, carries a powerful testimony of divine intervention and survival. The inspiration behind the track comes from a difficult period in his life when he felt close to breaking point, yet experienced what he describes as God’s saving grace. Drawing from Proverbs 6:15–16, the song reflects his renewed faith and trust in God’s presence.

Nana Yeboah acknowledges that one of the major challenges facing Ghanaian musicians is the lack of strong support systems within the local industry. Despite this, his music has gained significant attention, with Wonderful God receiving substantial airplay and resonating with a growing audience.

Looking back on his journey, he admits that he has not always led a perfect life. However, he emphasises that God’s mercy and grace have remained constant, shaping both his life and music.

“My message to the world is this: there is a living God we must take seriously and worship sincerely. No one should be misled into thinking otherwise,” he shares.
